- To form the present participle, one drops the ending -ons from the present indicative of the first person plural (nous) form and replaces it by -ant. this ending corresponds to the english present participle ending -ing,

- The Present Participle also has a compound form, the perfect participle which consists of the consists of the present participle of avoir or Sire and the past participle of the verb.
